Welcome to the Aloha reception
Welcome to the Aloha receptionToday was the last significant training prior to my race. I did all three sports and let me tell you. It was extremely hot. It was not too windy, at least near Kona. Sometimes it is not windy in Kona but once you are 10 to 20 miles out it can get nasty. I did the training right in the middle of the day on purpose. I made sure I drank enough so that any recovery is real fast. Then I tried to stay off my feet. That was hard to accomplish but I definitely feel better today.

Later in the afternoon I went to the athlete meeting. They did a good job at keeping the meeting short. There was nothing memorable for me other than the order of drinks on the bike course. The same water bottles are being used for water and for Coke. So I have to make sure I got water and not Coke. The order is Gatorade, water, Coke, Gatorade and water at the end again. That should not be too bad. Also I have to wear my timing chip on my right ankle.

Oh one thing for you guys and girls. You can go to Ironman.com and look for a link at the bottom of the page for wiggle wireless. There you can enter your text message capable cell phone number and get updates on me as I cross all the timing mats. My bib number is 691. This will free you from having to refresh your browser all day just to see where I am. You can do this for anyone racing. You also use this URL http://www.wigglewireless.com/campaign.asp?cam=65

Tonight I went to the Aloha reception. There you can mingle with the who is who in the sport. I caught up with a few people I have not seen in a while. The only problem is that you have to stand quite a bit but I found some steps to sit at. At the entrance you are greeted with a lei. The picture above is of the little Hawaiian girl putting the lei over my head.

The race is going to be here real fast. I have to think about my race predictions for the Pro race. Tomorrow I get a massage and go to the carbo loading dinner. By the way, thanks so much for all the emails whishing me a good race. I need all the positive energy possible.
