Today was the day where I get to put a face with the name. I met many of the folks I helped coach for Ironman Hawaii at our athlete breakfast. It is a fun time. I got to say a few words of wisdom and listen to Mark Allen say his. His words are always more spiritual and deep thought provoking. Mine are usually more practical of comical. I guess that is what makes a good coaching team.

Everyone seemed to be really pumped for the race and very complimentary of our efforts. That is always good. As Mark mentioned on his talk…. “your experience at the Ironman and with our coaching will do more for our coaching business that any advertising.” The picture above is of some of our elite age group team at the breakfast.

I also got to meet Phil White from Cervelo. He is one of the founders and owners if I am not mistaken. He seemed like a very nice and humble guy. Cervelo hired some great film maker to shoot some Kona videos and they plan to include us. We will have some small clips for our videos coming soon.

Later the expo opened. This year anyone that wanted to have a booth and pay for it could come. This made the expo a lot bigger. Mark as always was a big hit and people lined up for autographs and pictures. Many signed up for our sweepstakes right at the booth.

Too much fun to be had. All these athletes are now starting to get nervous. They go and register and get their wrist bands that identify you as an athlete. It is like a badge of honor until race day. Anyone does not have to ask you if you are racing, They just look at your wrist. No questions needed.

On the pro front I saw Faris Al Sultan and Craig Alexander. Faris always looks so relaxed. Craig is always very poker face. No smile at all. Maybe is only when I am around.

I still have to think hard about my picks to win the race. I tend to outdo Mark on these every year so I have a reputation to maintain.

Day two of the expo tomorrow. Stay tuned.
