Luis balaclavaImagine convincing your best friend to go hang out by the lake after sunset. "There is no one out there and it is sort of cool; we’ll park at the trail head and walk a mile to the lake". Then imagine going down the trail to the lake were you can only see about 10 yards in front because it is so dark and all of a sudden some guy that is hobbling and looks just like the one picture here appears right in front of you. I would have run but the two young girls that this actually happened to just froze and hugged each other. The hobbling guy is me and I did not know what to say. I just kept on moving and went right by them and back to the trail head.

Last weekend I was finally getting back into my running from my hamstring problem. (see previous posts). I went out to the trails to run. Once I got about a ½ hour into the trail I stepped on something and twisted my ankle. I first massaged it and tried to run but only got a quarter mile back before it started to hurt too much. I started walking and at first I could walk normal but later I had to hobble. That is when I crossed paths with the two girls. I like to run during sunset and that is a problem. If something happens it will be dark quickly.

I have yet to try running since that experience but I can swim and ride. So I am not too worried yet. My running mileage for the past three weeks is very minimal but I hope it will all work itself out. If you have checked the Colorado weather, it has been a great month for skiers and this morning the temperature was below zero Fahrenheit. Needless to say all my riding has been on the indoor trainer.

My new bike has yet to be ridden, I ordered some new handle bars, brakes and bar end shifters to make it a real tri bike. I will post next on my process of deciding which bars and brakes to get next. Stay tuned.
